Obsidian skull and Tektite necklace

This is one unusual necklace. I made it while under the influence of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows”. Why, you may ask, is there a skull as the focus piece? J.K. Rowling has brought up some very difficult concepts in her writings. She does not shy away from the difficult topics of Life, Loss, Death and Love. I designed this piece with the skull, to remind us of the cycles of life, the importance of living each day to the fullest, and to help us understand that there is more to our universe than what we can understand with our 5 senses. There is tektite in this piece. Tektite is a form of meteoritic glass from outer space, a place we are getting to know more intimately than ever before. Tektite encourages us to gather knowledge throughout the travels of our life, and has also been said to foster communication with the planet of origin. This stone helps to balance male/female properties of our characters and to strengthen our energy fields. The skull itself is black obsidian. This stone is linked with inner growth and positive change, as well as with psychic development. The natural wood beads help ground us while we explore the exciting areas that the tektite and obsidian open for us. This necklace is approximately 21” long, including the focus piece.
